This is me

I'm going to try to be better at this whole blogging business, but first... this is me.

My name is Keely. I am the owner, creator, photographer, designer, and often makeup and hair stylist of Pieta Elegente. I am also a doctor of physical therapy; I went to college for 8 years including 3 years of graduate school back East in Connecticut. I love being a PT. But I also love many other things: horses, photography, baking, reading, and movie binging. My dream is to have my own hippotherapy clinic, photography studio, cupcake truck, and a boutique restaurant called Grandma's Kitchen. All at once. I know. I'm nuts. Or ambitious. A dreamer. My husband says I'm not allowed to go full time with my photography studio until it, my business, makes the same (or more) annually as I do being a PT since I went to school for so long. (makes sense)

Speaking of my husband, we were kinda high school sweethearts. We've been together officially since 2005. He's my best friend. He served our country overseas in the Marines of which I'm very proud of him. I'm currently trying to convince that I need horse property and that he needs to let me teach him how to edit so I can essentially clone myself and get photos out to you faster!

We have two fur babies: Bentley & Ollie. They sit, shake, come when called, walk on leashes, and on occasion fetch. Oh and they're cats.

I love family history; prior to turning my photography hobby into an actual business I did a lot of ancestry research. I discovered my Dad's side of the family goes back to the 1600's in Maine and Massachusetts area. The female side of my Mom's side takes us from old southern Germany / Tyrol, Austria region (which may or may not have been what is now northern Italy (hmm perhaps why I love all things Italian)) to Wisconsin in the late 1700's. This sounds tangential, but stick with me. I am often asked how I came up with Pieta or what it means. Well.. I wanted something that played off my passion for family heritage. My Mom's sides family name is Ruth. Ruth in German is Ruth.. not very exciting. But Ruth in Italian is Pieta. Voila! Elegante is Italian for beauty / beautiful-- my studio is know for beauty portraits. You can learn how to say Pieta here: Pieta Pronunciation.

A day in the life of me looks a little like this:

530am wake up, pour the coffee to do the adult things, edit & respond to emails.
730am scramble into the shower to prepare for the day.
830am arrive at the therapy clinic where I treat babies, kids & adults with developmental & neurological conditions.
530pm gym time (this just started-- I need to remember to take care of myself and not just everyone else).
7pm crash on the couch with my husband to watch a little TV, eat, & unwind.
